I Am Quite Well Now
i am quite well now,
humility,
has a reassuring hand on my knee
and sobriety,
in all its forms,
has been such good company (for me)
i am quite well now,
the toy box,
which sits inside my brain
is still such a mess,
but there are some toys,
ones which i will never play with again
it’s fine,
i have stopped showing off,
and pretending to be something i’m not
really, it’s fine,
anxiety still comes with complex knots
even now, sadness will point its rifle
and take a shot
but, i am quite well now
i have stopped seeking attention
and i am nowhere near,
that neon wishing well
days of junior school poetry
no longer spill out of a childish inkwell
one that once overflowed,
every time i was involved in a kiss and tell
and feeling quite low
i am quite well now,
it is not me, but it is them
they dance to darkly made tunes
which catch sight of every daring hem
but, anyhow,
i am quite well now
and i can only think i got here somehow
