Hoping I Will Get There – Thursday 1st February 2024 (Aged 48)

Hoping I Will Get There

a sense of guilt –
tangles itself in my brain
deserving and undeserving
they are at it, again
and all i can do is be here
fumbling with my umbrella
as the rain tumbles down
what a notion to hold,
the idea of,
deserving and undeserving
it is something,
i try to swerve
life is after all a series of chicanes
not just a selection of curves
that is why,
it touches a nerve
and all i can do is be here
fumbling with my umbrella
as the rain tumbles down
risking,
all the confidence i have built
knowing that upon my walls –
there is ivy like guilt
but then, that is hardly fair
i have always tried to move forwards
hoping, one day,
that i will get there
