Cold Snap
why don’t you turn that dial back up?
after all,
confidence is bright,
and it is covered in the dew drops—
of today’s frosty morning.
why don’t you make me warm again?
it’s almost
as if the summer is here,
and we are washing down life—
with a lime cordial,
or supping on evening beers.
why don’t you turn that dial back up?
you can’t mope around,
there is a sunset to catch,
even as snow lays thick upon the ground.
i know,
i am always muted in my colours,
yet guided by a strong resolve.
and even though we play in the winter,
i refuse to be left in the cold.
why don’t you turn that dial back up?
why don’t you find me a frequency—
one that i can communicate on?
why don’t you find me a base station—
one where i can share the situation?
after all,
i just want to be safe and sound,
especially now,
with all this frost on the ground.
so let’s try and move forwards,
and not let’s go back.
why don’t you turn that dial back up,
and put an end to this cold snap?
