Inward Gaze
The inward gaze
is doused in fairy lights
and a soft, warm glow.
It has a theatre,
but on shows,
a one-person show.
It looks in,
but perhaps not below.
It is off-grid,
self-sufficient,
and out on its own.
It tracks identity
with the passion
others take home.
The inward gaze
is a long walk
down a long-lost lane.
It’s the thoughts of love,
but in a self-made frame.
It’s reaching for the stars,
then holding on to chains.
The inward gaze —
the one that likes to surrender,
but likes to be a craze.
The inward gaze.
