I Am A Smile
Hometown,
looked rundown;
but,
I am back home…
Motorways,
they just leave me alone;
but,
I am a smile,
a joke,
I am the words
that with youthful heart —
I once wrote.
Family appeared
in a place
quickly cleared;
people
pulled me near
as I sat down —
and wrote a worded diary
edited by the ghost
of King Lear.
Hometown though,
looks rundown;
and the accents,
the sound,
it could not hide —
but the accent
at least for near
provided some warmth
inside.
Heading back home,
heading north,
my eyes
still collecting some tears.
I am embedded
with these lived‑in years.
I love all of you,
and I did want
to stay some more;
the comfort of love
and memories
feels plush,
and adored.
