My Naked Ambition Keeps its Clothes On

oh she said,
james will not be here
and with her hand raised up,
she said,
james will be going to the top
i took no compliment
i just took a gulp
it is not ambition for ambitions sake
it never has been
i have just asked,
if i could take part
it is not about power or fame
it is about influencing,
and creating change
it is about experience
and finding out who you are
it is about putting words down
and turning them into actions
i was devastated
in my own way
that i should just seek ambition
i am ambitious
only to escape the self belief
and poor self esteem
if only to prove people wrong
