When Life Leaves You Behind

when life leaves you behind
when you miss the last bus home
when life has sold out on you
what else is there to do –
cry a sea of tears –
drown in a frown of fear?
when life has been round for the rent
but you have given everything
everything has already been spent
when life keeps you up all night
with worry and ache
when life sells you a diamond
but it is barely glass and totally fake
cry a sea of tears –
cry over it all when you fall
cry for those that never made it
cry for those that never make it
when life leaves you for someone else
when life does not give you a chance
and turns you down flat
when it is time for the last dance
just hang on for the better times
they are bound to come back
