In The City – Written Thursday 13th March 1997 (Aged 22)

In The City

in the city
the place of the self
you can mingle on the strand
and relate to no one else
you can feed a down and out
to ease your social conscience
or you can do it because you cae
in the city
you can be anything
or go anywhere
in your town you can wonder
and it will bring you down
pass the town centre
and wonder who is going to be found
and as you count the bricks
you can wonder
why don’t they pull the dump down
in the city
you can do as you feel
it is the most surreal place
nothing has to be real
