The Fluency of Youth

the fluency of youth
the care attitude
to romantic truth
the reasons
to always loop the loop
the selfishness never meant
the excitement of tomorrow
of hope lent,
and the relationships sent
the parody of scrapes
endless days
and enver to be repeated dates
unknown lanes
collective rates
there it all was
and now, that lunacy,
it fades,
that uncompromised self
has been compromised by life events
and nobody else
i am not that type of madness anymore
it stopped when the clocks
started working once more
when i shuffled direct debits
and mortgage payments found my door
because, to live like we did
would have caused cartwheels to extend
the fluency of youth,
does, eventually end
