As You Get Older – Written Wednesday 10th August 2004 (Aged 29)

As You Get Older

you get more beautiful
as you get older
therefore it is such a shame
that your life becomes colder
and the pain –
rests too heavy upon your shoulders

as you get more beautiful
and as you get older
i see the light catch the stories in your eyes
and when you smile
it is such a sweet surprise
someone somewhere –
needs to find you
you could make someone so happy
you have always been beautiful
ever since i can remember

as you get older
it is such a shame
that your life appears to become colder
you give everything to everybody else
and yet, you keep nothing for yourself
i guess, that is what makes you beautiful
and age never does detract
people could melt in your smile
that is a fact
