You Didn’t Cry Over Spilt Milk – Written Tuesday March 10th 2020 (Aged 45)

You Didn’t Cry Over Spilt Milk

i love you
because you helped me up
when I fell over
and I loved you more
when I spilt milk
but you didn’t cry
and when I found your loving space
you let me crawl inside

i love you
because you found my passport
the one I have always kept in my heart
it meant we could travel together
and I could stop falling apart
you showed me excitement and passion
and how I was perfect for the lead part

i love you
because you helped me with the weather
you helped me
when I found myself in unending storms
buying me the perfect umbrella
and you made me reborn
when you stopped my pain shouting out in acapella

i love you
because you helped
with those outstanding emotional bills
you built safe structures
the foundations of how we feel
you took jagged fantasy
and put motion to my wheels
you made contactless into contact
and I threw away my till

i love you
because you accepted my life debts
you steadied the steam ship
and when I lost my sea legs
you taught me that love could be hip
that I did not need to beg
you gave me food
when I needed so badly to be fed

i love you
because you put pretty bows
on my grubby mistakes
you cleaned my unwashed bowls
and put beautiful patterns on my china plates
you taught me patience
that wild love could wait
you opened windows on my virtues
and held my words with a devoted paperweight

i love you because you accepted me
you opened the borders
you took dawn barriers
opened once closed gates
I was an emotional refugee
chained to self imposed fates
you made yourself everything to me
this is our love, companionship steadies the rudder
we are a boat sailing on the many seas
how could there ever be another?
