Sculpted Out of Brick – Written Friday 22nd May 2020 (Aged 45)

Sculpted Out of Brick

they give me a past
and it was sculpted out of brick
it was placed on my back
but it never fits

morality is taken or given
sinners escape
delusion is well driven

what i did,
now seems to define me
in truth, it blinds me
and it does
scrambling out of a low level window
and taking its swag

carrying this stuff on my back
i am forced to look back
and paint my sullen eyes
i must steady my hands
as they kick me inside
they give me a past
and it is sculpted out of brick

the lights are electric and never gas
but still they are lit
and still i am forced to look back
