We Are The Photograph
i have noticed, that the photograph –
the one that has been in my wallet
that has followed the path of our relationship
it is still there,
yet it has become battered and creased
and it looks a little abused
so we have become like the photograph
or is it that it has become like us?
where once every day was new
now the photograph is torn
the edges are flawed
and although it is still adored
it is creased and clearly beyond total repair
so now we are the photograph
i still very much care
and i will still do all i can for you but –
we have become that old battered photograph
isn’t that true?
