Children
children with tears
that turn to gold
a lifetime alone
is a lifetime in a distant kingdom
as a king but no queen on the throne
a lifetime stuck in muddled verse
children with eyes many colours
and minds just the same
though you may be far away
you are still my friend
and though our hands may not touch
that does not mean i do not care
and if the child
whose tears run golden
and if i am the king in a kingdom
without a queen on my throne
i will not spend a lifetime alone
just as long as i know
that there are people like you
there to help me grow
