Perhaps They Could Tell Me

i must have some anger
for this situation
perhaps you ask
how could i have ever succeeded
with such an impossible task
and i find myself once more
left outside
and looking for new doors
and perhaps i ask
how could i have ever succeeded
with such an impossible task
i carry the weight of failure
as i carry the weight of success
i watch the scales
and where they come to rest
i must have some bitterness
for this situation
perhaps they ask
but how could i have succeeded
with such impossible task
perhaps they could tell me
i doubt they would know, even if i asked
