A Time of Lamented Dreams – Written Wednesday 26th August 2020 (Aged 45)

A Time of Lamented Dreams

the years
are starting to steal their natural good looks
and their eyes
are busy writing autobiographical books
there is something in their face
that says
my life used to be a different place
the kind where cars parked
children played
and picnics were had
the years
gather up their pieces behind them
and something in their look
tells me
that they will continue to write reflective books
as the light upon their face
told me a tale
of course, there are many sides of a story
and as i caught them, sitting there
there was something about their history
that told a different tale
perhaps a time of lamented dreams
which had once, so hopefully, set sail
