No One Told Me – Written Between February and June 1995 (Aged 20)

No One Told Me

no one told me
she did not want to hold me
everybody else could see
but i was the last to know
no one told me,
i feel used for my novelty
she did not ever seem to care
no one ever told me
she was on her own
she thought she was the most
she knew i was there
but she could never get that close
and don’t you know –
what hurts the most
what really embarrassed me
is that i had guessed –
and that everybody knew
but, no one told me
