Apple
i think of all we shared
the happy times we had
it is sad to bite into the apple
and then find it has turned bad
i think of the child
that i used to be
and the measure of impatience
comes down to what people think of me
do i play passive?
do i roll over and play dead?
do i dig this garden –
and use my imagination as a flowerbed?
i think i feel so sad
because we come so close
to what many people never find
now i can only bathe in the wounds
and in the waters of time
