May You Be – Written April 2002 (Aged 27)

May You Be

may you be –
all the things i dreamed of
all the things i loved –
but sadly lost
because it is only in later years
that you finally count the cost
may you be –
the most beautiful days
the kite i once held
but i let slip away

may you be –
the opposite to pain
the key to a lock –
for the keys i lost down the drain
may you be –
all the things i never had
the security never given
that in younger years left me so sad
and badly driven

may you be –
all the toys i once had
all the hope i had
the stuff that never meant tuppence
I could never feel sad –
it makes too too much sense,
set it all free
all the things i used to wish for
may you be
