Hopeful Starts – Written Saturday 14th December 2003 (Aged 28)

Hopeful Starts

i am sitting here tonight
and trying to sum up how i feel
to write down,
what you have given me
and now, what you mean
how i wait here,
wondering how my life –
could have been different
how we,
could have been there for each other
holding on,
in stormy weather
hanging on,
at the end of the teather
i sat here tonight
and realised it would have been easier
at least the tears
would have had a place to run
if, when we were young
we could have held on
i tried to write down –
what all this means to me
i tried to run through my thoughts
and when i looked behind
i know that now, now i have won
i had already reached the finishing line
