Irony Takes A Prestigious Bow – Written Wednesday 1st April 2020

Irony Takes A Prestigious Bow

they clap and applaud,
the service,
they voted to dismantle
irony,
takes a prestigious bow
the down of hope
hopefully will dawn somehow
they applauded,
with plastic tears
the very thing,
they had sought to dismantle
disabling its function,
irony,
found itself stuck at a junction
with no clear way ahead
we pin ourselves to news outlets
as they announce the daily dead
a simple ‘x’ in a box,
could have changed the thread
and it will achieve more,
than clapping and applause
and afterall, the vote, is truly yours
self interest has come first,
sat behind its desk
the one of privilege and arrogance
why do we tolerate this,
these buffoons so full of nonsense
