Giving Up
she asked, what had i given up
she could not see
the cost of my independence
the heartache of my individuality
both so natural
yet both almost stolen
and when reclaimed
there is a time truly golden
she cannot understand the pain
that breaks my back
with every turn of its wheel
sometimes it is just too much
that is why we struggle to feel
to get where i have
has been the biggest fight
i have been so sad
so all i gave was stubborn independence
and hard fought reverence
but it is not the take
more the face that they were all i had
and one day, well you might just see
and if you do not, well i will be forever sad
