A Pain Like This
what do people want
curtains closed
sleep comes and goes
i cannot change a world
that does not want,
to save itself
happiness so high
in the pickle jar of your highest shelf
i am asked questions
but i no longer have answers
those carefree days
may require a poetic licence
but i do not remember a pain like this
of feeling so frightened
tumbling and falling
and each avalanche of grief
seems to have a different calling
and still answers are sought
still people want to know
and i cannot blame them
but this is all i have,
i am afraid my strength is just not there
