Maybe I Have Tried to Shine Too Brightly
it is survival
not to shine
and swing by wire
on mystifying rhyme
it is not,
to pick up a gold cup
or to wear a badge
and then follow up
it is survival
not to be proud
with the stern above the waves
it is not ego madness
and clever raids
it is survival
just survive
make your way
through this cartoon world
with its rendered backdrops
the ups and downs
or stormy touch
the pitter patter
of fateful luck
expect no more
in front of the wizard’s door
it is survival
no more and not much less
after all, such noble lofty ambition
is, at best, careless
