Thirty Something
this is thirty something
the past has been hung
it was tried and convicted
before it had barely begun
freedom, just like a bird
bred self confidence
which devoured its young
this is thirty something
the weight of a metric ton
it is a holiday park
without the seasonal fun
it has all become so serious
complex and involved
i watch the casualties
as life’s harvest fails to yield
i try to help from no man’s land
it is just a battlefield,
this is thirty something
leaders have failed to lead
a generation high on low expectations
a belief that starts to believe
this is thirty something
something younger begins to leave
