Dusky Dawn – Written Saturday 22nd October 1994 (Aged 19)

Dusky Dawn

it was the dusky dawn
i came crawling out of my sleep
with a parched throat
and ravenous hunger
as i awoke,
i dreamt of something to eat
as i came too and started to think
i had to get a drink,
the sky is rumbling
the day is black, and it does not look good
as i watch the rain tumbling
falling down and down the wood
it looks like last night,
and all of yesterday
when i had tears on my face
you said your goodbyes without words
and you left me in a lonely place
i do not really know anymore
because today is not yesterday
my luck may have changed
so i get on some old clothes
and i go down to a friends house
and then, we go into town
just to see what is around
and i saw you by the shop
you looked through me
the memories did not stop
i remembered everything
now i was old and so aware
crawling out of a dream which had been us
into now, which was a nightmare
but i will find a new dream
because in the end,
i just have to pick myself up and start again
