Sugar Lumps and Sweet Tea
i used to know her name
tuesday, so strange
what does it mean to me
sugar lumps and sweet tea?
i used to be outside,
in the rain
but all those hailstones,
so much pain,
i used to make real cars –
out of my childish lego
and although they had four wheels
they never had anywhere to go
i used to be so shy
but now, now i am all show
and i do not know why
i used to be his friend
and we faced everything
but he went off, to another land
i used to walk at night
but i got mum up,
because i was so scared
I asked her,
leave on the landing light
that is how i used to be
looking through the windows of life
looking at a very different me
growing up so strange
tuesday is here again
what does it mean to me
sugar lumps and sweet tea?
