I Never Knew Me – Written Thursday 10th November 1994 (Aged 19)

I Never Knew Me

i never knew me
what i could do
what i could be
i never knew you
and that is the truth
yes, that is the truth
my friend,
has become distant
become so aloof
but he never knew me
i could never –
make the effort
to be me,
and try and see how i see things
then again
i never understood –
his lonely dreams
and all that pain
i never knew me
until now,
somehow, something –
was missing
but it is fine, it is so true
it was there all the time
i never knew you
