A Box of Red Flags – Written Wednesday 7th April 2021 (Aged 46)

A Box of Red Flags

a box of red flags
a carrier bag of lost things
a wooden trunk
full of poor attachments
a rucksack –
of latent parental love
an an explored cave
of recognition
the type they never gave
a life –
where the finishing line
is attached to their chest
so they come first
and others must be second best
a world –
of unexplored parents
and the love they did not give
a box of red flags
a selection of fireworks
with emotions –
scattered amongst the gunpowder
