Family – Written Tuesday 16th October 2001 (Aged 26)

Family

marriage, children,
a job or career
mortgage almost paid off
retirement drawing nearer
you lived my wish
as a child,
you were instilled with a feeling
whereas i was just wild
i sit at the table
and their teeth really gleam
half of me wants to scream
and half, just wants to dream

you parents, marriage…
mine never did
a job, a career
mine just hid
mortgage almost paid off
one of mine has two or three
and one realised
it would never include me
retirement drawing nearer
and your parents are so near
yet mine, could not be further away
