Voices – Written January 2002 (Aged 26)

listening to voices
the ones
that distil my night
the ones
that creep in the shadows
and reflect in my brain
as i listen to the wheels
of my favourite train
listening to speech
echoed but still so clear
words so resilient
but somehow coming near
listening to dreams
their tick-tock never stops
time is everything
and time is what you must watch
listening to voices
they are like a warm hand
plunging from a cold lake
i hope we understand
somethings will always wait
