Words Queued Up Today – Written Monday 11th August 2008 (Aged 33)

Words Queued Up Today

words queued up today
they were all hoping to get the job
but none of them fitted the bill
some shouted and some started to sob
some words claimed they could describe how i feel
some words ran, some stayed, some even hid
some words pretended, some claimed to make it real
but i interviewed them and none actually did
even those that laughed and cried
and those that queued up in the rain,
none of them ever quite managed to describe –
the feeling that runs deep inside
words queued up today
they were all hoping to get the job
i interviewed them all
the big, the complicated and the fancy
even those which appeared insignificant and small
every single word was given a chance
but none of them were on the ball
none could explain or describe
the ever growing feeling, growing inside
