Dad Was a Sly Fox
she said to me,
the girls,
they always have a soft spot for you
i know,
it is true
female company has always –
sat neater within my box
i was raised more by my mum
because my dad acted like a sly fox
but that closeness,
and love of female company
has on occasion –
unzipped and unmade me
it has pulled me into unbridled joy
but also into absolute darkness
ad such perilous perilous sadness
bizarre behaviours
and moments of kneeling down
hoping for saviours
she said to me,
the girls,
they always have a soft spot for you
i know,
it is true
but if soft spots are still spots
then i need much better clues
on how i should manage those relationships
or maybe a special guide of who’s who
