The Residue That Refuses to Drain – Written August 2008 (Aged 33)

The Residue That Refuses to Drain

how does it feel
to be so transparent
i am sorry to break it to you,
but most of us are
a so called perfect life
it cannot hide the scars
they always remain
like the residue –
that refused to drain
it is in the conversation
it is the way you hold yourself
it is in every situation
the way you look
and every picture taken
people can be read –
like the simplest of book
granted, many remain dazed
and never actually look
you pretend to be somebody else
to hide away,
to struggle to be yourself
that struggle is a loss
after all, we are all transparent
and predictability is a boss
