The Lure of Sadness – Written October 2008 (Aged 33)

The Lure of Sadness

why are you so keen for me to fail?
why are you so keen for my life –
to be the sorriest tale?
why are you so unable to accept –
that i am loved and care for
why are you so down on my success?
I look,
and sadness for you appears to have a lure
why do i have to be faulty?
why can’t my life be a success?
i would suggest,
you let the wind guide you –
when you are sailing
and i have to ask,
why are you so unwilling to see joy?
what happened as a child
did you not have enough toys
is that why as an adult you throw those toys –
out of your pram
that child you are, never keen to understand
and why, why are you so keen for me to fail?
for my life to have no colour –
and to always look so pale
what does that say about you
i would guess –
that would be another question evaded
and just another senseless attack
why are you so keen to rubbish those i love
and those whom i am attached to
why are you so keen for me to fail
it is because –
you feel you have failed yourself
and is it because you feel so lonely
do you want to be joined by somebody else
