You Have a Lot of Love to Give

when i gave you emotion
you just stared and then you looked blank
how long has it being like that
you know, having a big heart
one so ready and willing to give
but warmth you cannot resuscitate
and an empathy that refuses to live
so how long has it being like that
that coldness that sees you freeze
unable to support and comfort –
in a real world situation
i know you have a lot of love
that you are dying to give
but i also know that you are dying inside
and you have never had the chance to live
when i gave you my heart
you just looked back at me lost
and i could see you falling apart
as you tried to fight off ghosts
how long has it being like that
with those closest waiting –
for you to be less distant and less cold
how long the desire to givev felt so impossibly old?
