Cling to the Speakers
labels and conditions
life
and its many decisions
they expect you –
to sort out your life
when you have –
barely had the chance –
to live any
and when it goes wrong
you cling to the speakers
and ache at every song
but your tears
can never wash away the past
there is no tearful flood
the past has flood defences
which are just too good
so we come to our senses
but rarely when we should
life
and its many mini breaks
before the final emigration
tears could fill a valley of lakes
i feel every point of expectation
