Nerves
nerves drowned in gin
gardens overgrown with sin
song and dance left in the tin
faded eyes and conscripted lies
shout madly from slate rooftops
hopeless romantics in tall ships
feelings caught on the high seas
club class dreams and painters knees
nerves drown in chalk
fundamental books in grey
sneakers and teachers that wane
yet run shyly from sunshine genius
pocket of magic in an essence of sin
i wrote of lovers,
but never of where they begin
i held onto the ferries of pleasure
then you in green plundered my dreams
nerves drowned in gin
