Sandbags
the opinions
the judgemental attitudes
the clickety click
of the chattering teeth
the clackety clack
of the poison tongue
it’s just sandbags –
on their river of insecurity
which is set to burst its banks
a lifetime of bitterness
and wanting thanks
but the sandbags do no good
the insecurity swells and swells
and the opinions,
the criticism
and the mocking of others
are just hopeless sandbags
on their river of insecurity
trying to avoid the flood
clenched fists
and a face full of blood
the opinions –
of the over opinionated
the sandbags do no good
self esteem has been inundated
