Two People – Written December 2008 (Aged 33)

Two People

you know,
right now i could sleep forever
are people ever really together?
or are they just two icebergs –
always drifting apart
claiming the anchors are their hearts
but what stops the ice melting
and what stops it all falling apart?

you know,
right now i could sleep forever
but away from this frozen sea
away from this forest of ice
where the collapse of hope
appears to be an acceptable vice
where people dare not think
not once, let alone twice
just in case the icebergs sink

you know,
right now i could sleep forever
are people ever really together?
or are they just the rainclouds –
the ones full of stormy weather
the ones who try not to rain
claiming that their teardrops
are not the weather of their pain
