Further North – Written Thursday 24th March 2022 (Aged 47)

Further North

i am in a new place
further north,
further north than i have ever lived
will this setting,
understand of all my gifts?
and will my old place
be so sorely missed?
i do not know where i belong
but then, that is not new
because often, that is how i have carried on
like the detective looks for the clues
i am in a new place
further north,
further north than i have ever been
well, in this way, to stay and to live
so help me realise my many dreams
and define new ways in which we give
and will my old place,
just become part of my past being
i want to live and then connect
but then, that is not new
in my life, i have always feared being left
