Sending Messages

i find it hard to write him a message
to find the words to send
father and son ambitions
it seems difficult to even be friends
how did it come to this?
where would i be with role model?
who would i be with a dad
who would i have been with a man to look up to
to protect me from harm
to inspire me, to love me and keep me warm
how did it come to this
well meaning words of care and intent
they feel clumsy and unwanted and hard to send
father and son ambitions
it seems difficult to even be friends
