Paying Fines – Written Wednesday 21st December 2005 (Aged 30)

Paying Fines

I have not done anything wrong
yet it is i,
who receives the punishment
and here i am
paying some kind of fine
you, i do not understand
so i am going to walk away now
to some far off land
a place of learning
a place that i can understand
i have not done anything wrong
i am afraid it is you,
who should be carrying the can
why shouldn’t i scream and shout
who should i pay
tell me, what was it all about?
i have always been here
apologising when i need to
how come you get away with everything
when i have not done anything wrong
