You Are The Journey
have you ever had to fight
fight for who you feel you are?
your identity,
have you?
and have you ever had to fight
and take something –
by the scruff of the neck
let’s shake this society,
because i will not be told
just who i am
not by those who do not understand
have you ever had to fight
fight for who you feel you are?
to remain clearly defined,
i am sure you have uttered the same lines
and made sure it was understood
i will not be someone’s puppet
no matter what inducement it brings
i am not one for acting out fairytales
and you will not find my strings
have you ever had to fight
fight just so you can be heard?
why are there so many people
dipping their toes into the waters
when it is clear it is a lake of insanity
tell them who you
and then, start to dictate
you should not be told who you are
you are your own journey
and only you know the distance and how far
