Just Stay There And Smile
goodbye to the bad times
a drink to feel fine
a vision of life in time
goodbye to the music –
they played on the radio –
for a week and a bit
now life returns to normality
whatever that might be –
for you and me
goodbye to the bye byes –
hush hush and night times
a drink to melt the mind
meld all the time
a vision of life set into religion
held in scriptures
so say our listeners
goodbye to the evasive friend
the one,
who looks down their nose
and hangs onto the end of a wire
so they go on,
and we wait a while
is it goodbye or hello
just stay there and smile
