Hollow Stems and Idle Laughter

we have split people –
into groups
and categories
and assigned each a value
based upon –
a series of prejudicial judgements
and opinions
i clearly see this
in a world that does not know –
what it wants to be
a world of wild thoughts
and lapsed seas
i clearly see this
in everything people want me to be
as they crash to the floor
and hurt once more
i clearly see this
and i realise with my own hands
that there are those –
who will be the sacrificial lambs
placed there –
on societies high alter
there is a madness
and it has hollow stems and idle laughter
we have split people –
into groups
and categories
before we even know what we recognise
