Chasing Sunflowers
i look inwards
and try not to personalise
i dab,
the sawdust from my eyes
chasing sunflowers
from wild fields
i try not to personalise
yet, what can i build
and what can i do
when haunted creatures
find my self doubt
i wipe down my stones
as self belief,
gives me a false throne
i look inwards
and try not to personalise
i dab,
the dreams from my eyes
i believe in all of you
but not those stubborn lies
the type –
that dominate your countryside
and leaves you tongue tied
let’s chase the sunflowers
the type we like
as they reach the sky
and we hold each other tight
