Sharp Side of a Blade

i was not aware –
that my joyous life –
was so full of despair
till,
along came you
with your sinister care
i was not aware –
that i was so disliked
till,
along came you
and you put me right…
the love –
that you claim you gave
in fact –
was just the sharp side –
of a blade
it came with rules and conditions
and i could not be myself
or any version of who i am
you insisted –
on suffocating supervision
