Bitter
i see their hand,
and it is waving away
i don’t expect it is trying to get my attention
it was waving
but not at me
but i could see that they were drowning
in bitterness,
a swamp masquerading as a sea
i would hate to be like you
smiling away but such a mess
a redundant working class attitude
with fifty odd years of bitterness
does it hurt?
is it hard to find –
or have you shored up the bitterness
and made sure it is blind
fifty odd years of being a bitter bitch
and then –
they cast their judgement –
on the rest of the world
to me it all sounds and tastes a bit rich
i see the hand from the depths
a sea of bitterness
let down down by a life you did not expect

Bitter – Written Friday 25th August 2005 (Aged 30)

“a swamp masquerading as a sea”… what a line! Your words are sharp with a “sulfurous” quality… strong one.

Thank you – I don’t remember who this written about – it feels very of my age 30 – that sort of later 20’s / early 30’s time when I looked around at the world with a degree of confidence, before the rug was pulled out from under me 🙂 I could write this now and wouldn’t want to 🙂

This is really sweet, but I am a bit private about my Facebook. I hope that’s okay for you 🙂

Thought about it for a bit. I sent you a friends request. I am not there much & the display name is not my real one… but you should recognize the face. 🙂

I have to say, I don’t want to be down on everything I write, I do like that line 🙂

I’m a very harsh critic of my writing and in turn of me. It’s hard not to be be 🙂

I know what you mean. I am a very honest person & I only tell people I like certain things, when I really like them.
I really like your writing.
I would not be reading and commenting if I didn’t. You have Talent (capital “T”!), I like your style and I think it is really amazing what you’re doing.
