Bleary Eyed Romantics – Written Sunday 28th August 2005 (Aged 30)

Bleary Eyed Romantics

bleary eyes romantics –
taking vitamin pills
drinking half baked drinks
reading books on cheap frills
sorry faced –
lizard like children
smoking fifty dollar bills
the world has gone to pot
feed me a dream –
for the worlds ills
sodden little men –
in yellow plastic coats
building a sticklebrick castle
that just won’t float
timber faced engineers
sniggering to their friends
on solid,
fried and diced,
blind eye fear
lost couples in a sea of wine
television junkies for the tabloid spot
saving from time to time
waiting till it’s hot
we all move from parlour to pantry
counting what we have got
